Finding The Perfect Christmas Tree

We're here to make the process easier.

Home | Articles

Finding the perfect Christmas tree is an important part of the winter season. It is a fun process for children all over and really invites the familiar winter feeling into the home. However there are several important and often overlooked factors that come into play in picking a tree.

The first very important factor in finding a good tree is size. Obviously different sized houses can accommodate trees of different sizes. Height and width both play important roles. Width can usually be gauged by eye. Before shopping around, look at the intended place for the tree and estimate how wide would be too wide. A tree that is too wide can be more of a burden than beautiful.

christmas treeHeight obviously is also very important. It might not be a bad idea to actually measure out how tall a tree the room can accommodate. If by chance a tree is too tall for a specific room, it can be trimmed. However clipping too much off the top of a tree can give it an unnatural look.

Now that the size of the tree has been determined, it’s time to consider the type and condition of the tree. Although Pine Trees have become the most popular, Cedar is still a very common option. The branches on a pine generally point more towards the ceiling while a cedar commonly tends to branch out on more of a horizontal path. Each kind of tree can produce a different look and feel in the home.

It’s important to find a tree that has been freshly cut. Sometimes trees that have been cut a while ago can look more tempting, but have much less life left in them. A fresh cut tree will last longer. Finding an evenly distributed tree is also a good idea. A tree that has “holes” or empty spots that lack branches can be hard to decorate.

A good Christmas tree will fit well in the home, look good, and have a nice aroma to it. Considering these tips will help make sure that this year’s tree is a beautiful addition to the home.
